The food is often a popular and extremely important aspect of the party, especially the cake, which is often the focal point that ties everything together. I recently had the pleasure of making a custom wedding topper for a bride and groom, such a fun project. Contact me to find out more about creating a custom cake topper for your special event. Atmospheric effect with Airbrushing
I recently tried my hand at airbrushing for a special order. I airbrushed a few things in college, but that has been some years back.... I was lucky enough to find the airbrushing equipment in our basement (amazing the things you can find!). I'm pretty excited about the prospects. The airbrush almost looks like the results you would get from an atmospheric firing such as soda firing. What do you think?

The Ring Holder Arrival
New ring holders have arrived! I have a wide selection of colors - some created from using a different clay body. I experimented with a new clay body - a nice dark brown clay that is very smooth and plastic and looks really good with some of the glazes I have. It's interesting how some glazes looked better and others just looked different.
The top picture is glazed in sunny yellow with my normal clay body, the
bottom green ring holder is glazed in the same color in the dark brown
clay body.
In this set of pictures, the first is glazed in firebrick in my normal clay body, the second it also glazed in firebrick, but in the dark brown clay body. The darkness of the clay body really enriched the color of the glaze.

Count down to Christmas....
Can you believe how fast this year has gone? It has been a pretty exciting year for us. My son was born in May and it has been a wild adventure ever since. In order to spend more time with my son, I have done only a couple of shows and have focused more on my etsy shop? Speaking of, the kiln is running right now, so hopefully I will have some new things to post tomorrow. I have a slew of ring holders - firebrick, yellow, purple, gray, black, baby blue and a few others that have been sold out in my etsy shop. Check back tomorrow for your chance to get your last minute holiday gifts!
