Etsy Team Columbus

At the beginning of the month, I was notified that I was accepted into the Etsy Team Columbus group. It's a great group with very talented artists. We try to promote each others works and share information concerning shows, marketing, and whatever else is relevant. The group just started and "Endorsed by Etsy Team Columbus" promotion, which picks 16 items from the 60+ members shops to include in a treasury for the week. I was one of the lucky ones to have a piece from my shop featured in the first treasury. Take a look and be sure to browse through each shop featured. http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4c9b6e4e88108eef9f890830/highly-recommended-etsy-team-columbus

Weddings!

Weddings are such fun and exciting events. Each bride goes with a theme and colors that fit their personalities. There are so many details to figure out and design possibilities available. This past year Joe and I were married and two of our close friends were married and one of his co-workers. Needless to say, weddings have been a popular topic.

Etsy is a great place to find hand made items, whether it is custom jewelry for your wedding party, invitations for your bridal shower, a dress for your wedding or even personalized hangers. A fellow etsian and team member makes these adorable personalized hangers http://www.etsy.com/listing/56198980/custom-hangers?ref=v1_other_1. What an adorable idea for an engagement gift!

Who's the Judge?

This evening I had the pleasure of being the judge for the Ceramics and Crafts categories at the fair in my home town. This is at least the 4th year that I have been a judge. You can be a judge for two years and then someone new rotates in.

Judging the categories is pretty interesting. I try to look at the creativity of the entries, the construction of the pieces and the precision of the painting. Comparing entries becomes a little more difficult when you are looking at elementary students work though. Not to be biased, but I have to be a little more lenient with them. I don't want to scar them for life!

While I was judging, there was a group that came through and saw that their entries had been judged. I heard many squeals and excited words coming from the kids. I know I can't make everyone happy, but it was nice to know that I made someone happy:)
